The Commissioner also spoke on various
issues happening in Kwara State Kwara State Commissioner for Information,
Mahmud Ajeigbe has revealed that the state government is making more than a
billion naira on internal revenue .
in an interview with Expozeme.com,
the spokesperson to the state government made this revelation. He added that
the State government are no longer owing any workers in the State as all
pending wages have been cleared up till date. Recently, there has been so much
mutiny in the State with some workers protesting in the front of the government
house in Ilorin, but the Commissioner disclosed that the trouble has been
settled.
“There are different categories of workers in
the Kwara State which are State workers, the parastatal agencies and the Local
government. We are not owning any State workers for now, but the challenges now
are that of the parastatals and the Local government, and we have resolved the
issue,” he said to EXPOZEME.com. Kwara State government are said to have
improved on internally generated revenue so as to cushion the fall in the State
share of the Federal allocation, and EXPOZE.com however asked the amount being
made by the government. “Well, there is no fixed sum, but we are generating
more than 1 billion naira monthly through the Kwara State revenue board.
Just last week, there were reports
in the State about the illegal recruitment of workers in the teaching service,
and the Commissioner was asked the rationale that opened such loopholes.
The truth is that there is no system
where there is no loopholes, and there are some people who usually take
advantage of the loopholes, but we are working tirelessly on this issue. We
have panels working on it and they will later submit their report to us. It has
been widely reported in the local media that the Kwara State government are
owing some commercial banks, and the commissioner attested to the fact that the
report is the truth.
Yes, we are owing some banks, but
actually I can’t really tell the amount or the names of the bank and I don’t
think that’s a problem.We still have three more years and the government has
promised to fulfill all the promises made before the election most especially
on the roads projects, dualization of Sango to University of Ilorin Teaching
Hospital (UITH) and the Ganmo to Afon road. Alhaji Mahmud Ajeigbe also spoke on
the trials of the Nigeria Senate president Bukola Saraki as he claimed that the
former Kwara State governor is being persecuted and not being prosecuted.
